Eat, Move, Heal
How I naturally transformed my heart health, blood sugar, and energy — and cut my medication by doing it.
Cholesterol, blood pressure, and glucose aren't three separate problems. They are one metabolic system. Fix the foundation, and everything improves together.
I was the model patient. My arteries disagreed.
I have managed Type 1 diabetes for more than four decades. I can calculate insulin-to-carb ratios in my sleep, my endocrinologist calls me a model patient, and my A1C sits where it should.
Then one morning I stood in my kitchen holding a Repatha injection pen, nauseous at the thought of adding yet another medication. My glucose control was exemplary. My cholesterol was climbing, and my blood pressure medication kept going up.
I had tunnel vision. I had perfected one dish while the rest of the kitchen quietly burned. The breakthrough came when I stopped treating blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure as separate challenges with separate solutions, and started treating them as one system with one root cause.
Within three months, everything improved at once. Not because I found the perfect diet, but because I finally addressed the foundation instead of the symptoms.
One lifestyle, not three treatment plans
The book follows the same three moves I made, in the order I made them. Each one is grounded in the research that validates it: traditional populations like the Yanomami of the Amazon, and landmark trials like PREDIMED and DASH.
Eat
Take the pressure off your arteries
The red meat retreat, dairy decisions, saying a sweet goodbye to added sugar, and processing out processed food. Then what replaces them: vegetables, fish, lean proteins, and the fats that heal rather than harm.
Saturated fat
Added sugar
Healthy fats
Eating out and social life
Move
The boosters that cost nothing
Movement and mindfulness as the ultimate health boosters, daylight as daily medicine, and how I learned to love my pillow. The lifestyle habits that did as much for my numbers as anything on my plate.
Daily movement
Sunlight
Sleep
Stress
Heal
See the whole system, then run it
Why glucose, lipids, and blood pressure move together; how technology became my health ally; and a complete summary of the approach so you can start tomorrow rather than after you finish reading.

Full toolkit
Written for the person who is doing everything right and still watching the numbers climb
This is not a diet, a 30-day challenge, or a supplement protocol. It is a way of running your body as the integrated system it is, built for real schedules and imperfect weeks.
Your doctor just suggested a statin, a second blood pressure pill, or both.
You have diabetes and your glucose is fine, but nothing else is.
You are 45 or older and your energy has quietly gone missing.
You are analytical by nature and want mechanisms and data, not mysticism.
You would rather adjust your life than add a prescription, with your doctor's help.
My 90-Day Transformation
I didn't set out to find another diet. I wanted to discover what could happen if I treated my blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress as parts of one interconnected system.
Three months later, the numbers told the story.
LDL Cholesterol - 145 → 87 mg/dL
Blood Pressure - Above 145/85 → 115/78 average
A1C - Low 6s → 5.8%
And these improvements happened while I reduced both my cholesterol and blood pressure medications by 75%.
These are my personal results—not a promise of what someone else will experience. But they changed the way I think about health forever.
That journey became Eat, Move, Heal.
The dashboard that keeps me honest
The book closes with my complete tracking toolkit: what each device measures, why I use it, and how the data becomes a coach instead of a judge.
Continuous glucose monitor
Real-time glucose, post-meal responses, and how sleep and stress show up in the curve.
Nutrition tracking
Micronutrients, fiber, sodium, and saturated fat, not just calories.
Sleep and recovery
Sleep efficiency and temperature trends, the variables I used to ignore.
One health dashboard
Everything in one place so the connections between choices and outcomes become visible.

I have lived with Type 1 diabetes for over 40 years. By day, I am a CFO; by training, a Ph.D., CPA, and MBA. I am not a medical doctor, and this book is not medical advice. It is the story of what I changed, what I measured, and what the research says about why it worked.
I have written about diabetes management for years at healthy-diabetes.com. This book, and this site, exist because the people who wrote to me about those posts were not only diabetics. They were people with rising cholesterol, creeping blood pressure, and fading energy who wanted one integrated approach instead of three.
Everything here is meant to support your medical team's guidance, never replace it. Talk to your doctor before changing diet, exercise, supplements, or medication.
